Tamilnadu Carrom Ranking Tournament 2012, Tamilnadu Carrom association, Coimbatore District Carrom association and JCT College of Engineering and Technology jointly organizes a three day state level carrom meet. The 47th carrom ranking tournament scheduled from 26th July 2012 to 28th July 2012. The inaugural function took place today as a part of the thrashing three day event. Dr. T. Radhakrishnan, Department of Physical Education, Bharathiar University was the chief guest for the inaugural function. The Guest of Honors are Thriu O.M.manivelu, Trustee, JCTCET,Thiru. G.Vijayaraj, General Secretary-TNCA, Thiru .J.Pyare John, Joint secretary West Zone-TNCA ,Thiru S.Yuvaraj ,President -CDCA, and Thiru T. J. Rajkumar, Secretary- CDCA, Thiru T. J. Thangakumar, Asst secretary – CDCA , Thiru.M. Dhanapani,Treasurer-CDCA.
Dr.R.Saravanan, Principal welcomed the gathering. He stressed on the importance of extra curricular activities apart from studies. The college chairman Thiru. S. A Subramanian, presided over the function and focused the aim of hosting the tournament to encourage the sports. The Chief Guest was quiet happy and acknowledged the response given by JCT for the sports promotional activity every year and spoke about the need to promote the social awareness of sports.
About the event:
The carrom meet will be of two categories:
1. Men’s Doubles & Men’s Single
2. Women Single.
The Players from 14 Districts are participating in the event. 186 Players already registered for the event which includes 154 men players and 32 women players. A team of referees & managers from different regions also joined the event.
The players who score first eight points in men and first four points for women category will be eligible to take part in the forthcoming national level meet.
The three day carrom carnival will feature the participation of the National and International champions Mr. Maria Irudayam, Ilavalagi, and Mr. P.Nagaraj.
